case of cerebral malaria on the grounds of the patient's residence in the endemic area, the history of previous attacks of malaria and the finding of an enlarged spleen though the parasite cannot be demonstrated in a blood smear. It has happened that in such cases the administration of 5 gr. of quinine intravenously immediately and sometimes repeated after, has resulted in quick improvement in the patient's condition.
